Instructor Requirements and Responsibilities

Great Prairie AEA requires all instructors to have a master's degree.  Individuals wanting to become an instructor must submit a current resume and a transcript showing the master's degree.  These should be submitted to Shannon Johnson (  The instructor is responsible for completing and submitting the syllabus form.  More detailed information about instructor roles and responsibilities and additional information can be found in the Instructor Handbook.

Course Proposal

To begin the course proposal process, please complete and submit the syllabus form below.  The completed syllabus should be submitted to Shannon Johnson (  The syllabus should be submitted at least 60 days before the start of class to allow time through the approval process and to allow time for registration.  A minimum of 15 contact hours are required for each semester hour of credit.  If you are requesting your course be offered for graduate credit, please note the additional requirement for outside or additional activities outlined on the syllabus.  This information, along with a rubric, must be included on your syllabus.

Workshop Proposal

The workshop proposal form can only be used for workshops and meetings where no credit is being sought.  The completed workshop proposal form should be submitted to Shannon Johnson (
