Great Prairie AEA partners with Drake University to offer graduate credit for some of our Professional Development courses.  For more information about Drake University, please click here.

Online Courses
This fall we will offer two online courses that will help educators from out-of-state meet Iowa licensure requirements. If you have individuals contact you that need one or more of the following courses, please share the below information.

Elementary Social Studies: Making Your Content Relevant (EDMA 208)
Fall Dates: Sep. 26 - Nov. 20, 2016
3 Semester Hours of Graduate Credit
$595 (the text is not included in the tuition price)  

This course will help educators from out-of-state meet the new social sciences requirements specific to the  102 - Teacher, Elementary Classroom Endorsement. The new requirements state that elementary teachers must have at least 9 semester hours in social sciences which must include: 

  1. History 
  2. Geography
  3. Political science/civic literacy
  4. Economics
  5. Behavioral sciences

This three credit hour online graduate course covers each of these content areas and was developed with input from the Iowa BOEE. Here is a link to course information on our web site:

Human Relations (EDMA 204)
Fall Dates: Sep. 26 - Nov. 20, 2016
3 Semester Hours Graduate Credit

This course will explore the various subgroups of people found in our society. Students will be challenged to improve their interpersonal relationships with and awareness of individuals within different subgroups. They will enhance their classroom skills and techniques related to human relations, while providing favorable learning experiences for all students.
